NEW BEING HUMAN!!!!
I…had thought Nina was the sensible one, but she went an entire month without telling anyone she was scratched up. And the thing is, George was always going to be horrible and cry for himself about it, he's just that way, but she could have avoided four weeks of George thinking she's a self-centered ninny if he'd had any idea what was going on with her. Like, I don't feel that she's responsible for managing his emotions, and I certainly don't believe there's any excuse for George stepping up on someone who has been physically attacked in the way that led to the scars on Nina's stomach, but I do think that hiding her condition from George was a mistake, and I am thoroughly unsatisfied as to the reasoning why it was done. It feels as if Nina was forced to do something foolish so that the episode could show both her first transformation and her confrontation with George about her new status in close proximity. Oh, my darling, dearest tv producers — that's what flashbacks are for.

I appreciate that Mitchell is at loose ends, but how on Earth does he think a romance with a straight human can go well? It especially doesn't help that she's a physician; she may well notice that his body doesn't work right. Remember what happened the last time he ended up in A&E? Honestly, the last time he just tried to befriend a normal human being went terribly, and that was just a twelve year old boy.

I did appreciate the nod to the fact that the neighbors were trying to mob him out as a pedo about six weeks ago, though. I feel as if, on an American TV show, they would have just forgotten it, but maybe I expect too little of my co-citizens.

As for Annie, I like her. I love that she's gotten self-confident, even a bit brazen perhaps. (Who goes for an interview as waitstaff with a business plan for the place?) I also like that even though she's stronger, she's not any smarter about men. How or where would she have learned to be? Nowhere, so she's not. I also love that she was both supportive of Nina, but also really thought that telling George about Nina's change was important. (Also, LOOKS LIKE FEMSLASH, people; get to typing!)

I am really quite intrigued by Daisy and Ivan, as well as the mad scientists. I don't know what any of them want, although I do want George to stop fucking Daisy. I am all for wholesome sluttery, and am quite the believer in sleeping with people one's just met, but I draw the line at people who've set one up for an ambush. This shows a decided lack of care for one's person which indicates that getting naked and distracted in their presence is always ill-advised.

Overall, I liked it, I liked that they are still a threesome which is slowly incorporating Nina, I liked the introduction of new problem characters. However, the tone was decidedly bleak, and the humorous cut away scenes with Mitchell and his new doctor friend didn't work for me as humurous cut away. One, because they actually were a little too reminiscent of early George/Nina. Secondus, because I am pretty sure they are leading nowhere good. And Annie at the pub kept dinging my embarrassment squick. But I am definitely looking forward to next week!

Also, BBC books is publishing Being Human tie-in novels come February. Anyone have a guess as to their availability in the States?

Chuck is back!

Honestly, I loved everything except the Chuck/Sarah stuff. I loved that they Went There and killed Emmet. I think I'm going to like the New and Improved Big Mike. I know I like Lester and Jeff being themselves, and I thoroughly approve of Morgan and Chuck living together. (I will miss you lots, Anna.)

However, I do not love Sarah being made responsible for Chuck's emotional life. And I feel as if Chuck is being made into a more emotionally unstable character so the Intersect weakness comes into play. In the first two seasons, he could pay attention to an assignment, especially if it potentially had to deal with people trying to kill him, without getting distracted by personal issues.

I am looking forward to tomorrow, but much more warily than I might have anticipated.
