Glee smack

The only way this reaction to a recent Glee episode is wrong is that it says schuster's racism was just revealed, rather than being apparent from the way he treats his students.

I've found I'll Whisper Your Name Without Fault which is decent enough, but takes place before we found out Tina was faking her stutter.

Please tell me there's more Mercedes/Tina in the world than this. Am I going to have to write it myself? That would make me a sad zvi.

Watched Glee. )

During Glee, they showed a preview for Avatar. I had been hearing for quite some time that Avatar was going to be an amazing science-fiction extravaganza I should really want to see, but, weirdly, all of this promotional material totally elided over the plot and premise. Now I know why. )

Assume spoilers for everything.

Glee )

What I'm saying is that I tuned into Glee in hopes of seeing a story I could see myself in, and wound up trapped in a world of whiny white people. I'm giving it two more episodes before I give up on it.

Flash Forward )

Project Runway

This season of ProjRun has been its weakest to date. The challenges are simply not very interesting. The two that have felt like they were truly in the tradition of Runway were the newsprint and wedding dress challenges. (The movie genre challenge could have been on that list, but it was, I think poorly constructed. Tonight's challenge also could have been on that list, but the designer/celebrity interaction was poorly handled.) I was severely disappointed with the challenge that was to make a blue dress. The problem with that challenge was that, although they were theoretically to match the style of a specific clothing line, if the designers were given any instruction whatsoever on the particulars of this year's line, the audience was not privy to it.

That's another big problem that I've had with this whole season. Far too little camera time has been spent on fashion, either reviewing the historical references designers are to be inspired by (in the Olympics challenge, didn't we and the designers see pictures of previous teams' outfits?) or in the workroom, observing the progress of individual outfits. Too often, examining an outfit means a swooping camera pan which stops and focuses on a different designer making faces across the workroom, or cuts abruptly to a confessional where the designer pontificates about their progress.

I would very much like to see the clothes much more, and to see their evolution as they are built up. I want the designers to talk more about their clothing ideas as they relate to the challenge and how they are constructing the garment, and a lot less about how much their feefees were hurt by the crisis of the week.

The inconsistent judging has also been a problem. It's let Heidi have way too much influence on the judging overall, and I just don't think her ability to discriminate between different levels and types of badness is there the way it needs to be. Frankly, I'm done with this season. The final judging goes in the wrong direction way too often. spoilers )

At least HIMYM and CSI appear to be firing on all cylinders this season.

Supernatural: Sucked so hard. )

Project Runway: Boring )

In other news, I've been up since 1 p.m. today, and aside frm watching Leverage and writing this journal entry, I've just been prettifying my computer, and it's still not quite right. I give up, now, though, I'm sick of looking at computer theme art.

I think it is time for some dark colorschemes for Dreamwidth.
