I support the WGA in its strike, and I'll support SAG and DGA if it comes to that. (And a fair number of people seem to think it will come to a SAG strike.) The issue is this: writers are getting zero for online content. They make no money for webisodes, they make no residuals from itunes downloads or website videoplayer streams. They're not squabbling over a percentage change, they're fighting for a portion of what many suspect will be the primary tv distribution medium in ten or fifteen years.

The main WGA strike website, I think, is unitedhollywood.com.

There are at least two youtube accounts you might want to keep an eye on wgaamerica on youtube and writersguildeast on youtube. I don't know if Writers Guild West has a youtube account or channel.

Livejournal fandom has started a community [livejournal.com profile] wga_supporters. Even if you don't friend it, join it. Get the numbers up like for fandom counts.

TV Guide has a blog about the strike is affecting the tv season. And, LAWeekly's Nikki Finke's has continuous coverage on DeadlineHollywoodDaily.

The GIMP makes me tired, so I'm using this icon that was featured on [livejournal.com profile] wga_supporters as my default for the time being. Sorry about weconning my default, but this is the statement of support I have the resources to make. (If you are in New York or LA, consider buying picketers some coffee or something.)

<ETA> Rant about what Nickelodeon did to people who tried to organize writers for animation on Paul Dini's LJ. (link from [livejournal.com profile] dragonbat)

Mike Fromme, recommended by Paul Dini as really knowing what's the what with regard to the strike.
