My mom's been in a frenzy of cleaning out the house, and we stumbled across a huge box of Christmas cards my dad had from when he was a prison chaplain. I rescued about a hundred of the most attractive ones. Because these are from my dad's ministerial work, even the ones with Santa on them have explicitly Christian text. I do have a limited number of Kwanzaa cards, if you'd like something non-Christian from me.

Let me know if you would like me to mail you a card. I'd love to mail internationally, as long as your local post office can deliver cards addressed in roman letters. (Or Cyrillic, actually, but I don't know Arabic, Hebrew, or any Asian scripts.)

The reason for running

remixduello in the first place is to have a remix challenge with restraint, where the story you are to remix was picked for you, as an extra special remix challenge. (Also, to let you pick exactly which story got remixed, to say, "I want to see where someone takes that story.") The Melee got rid of both of those aspects of the challenge. I think a little bit of that could be restored if I reorganized it so that people could nominate stories as Melee prompts, but only one per fandom. Would that still be of interest to people?

My trusty Wahl has succumbed to cord problems. :( I need to buy a replacement. Help me rlistwankenobi, you're my only hope.

First, some background: I like my Wahl because it is Powerful, Quiet, Cheap, and Plugged In (which means I don't have to have a steady stream of batteries, which leads to batteries lying around the house, because I know their hazardous waste, so I don't throw them in the trash, but I don't get around to taking them in for hazardous waste disposal.)

Anyway, I feel fairly comfortable splurging at a high level, because I got a work bonus that I have yet to touch.

Also, does anyone have experience buying with early2bed.com, edenfantasys.com, or smittenkittenonline.com? I'm not actually sure those are all toyshops, but they advertised in my last issue of Bitch, so I may give them a try.

I'd really love a comm for the discussion of podfic. I'd like it to include both podfic meta -- what's an effective way to use music, are certain stories more podficcable than others, what tagging data is good and where should it go, for instance -- and podfic reviews. The goal would not be to come to a single consensus about what makes a good podfic, but to articulate and debate aesthetic theories about podfic, in the same way that we articulate and debate aesthetic theories about television shows, music, movies, and, to a sadly lesser extent, fanfiction and other fanactivity.

It would specifically not be a place for concrit or recommendations; I think those are valuable, but they also lead the discussion to a really producer-centered place. This comm is for those who like meta discussion and podfic, without regard to whether they read, edit, or listen.

This comm is not, 100% strictly speaking, necessary. Jinjur has offered amplificathon as a place for meta discussion (and, in fact, this post was spurred by a discussion cathexys started in amplificathon. Personally, I feel like I would be hijacking amplificathon if I started the sort of discussion I'm interested in there, especially as even the most general discussion quickly leads to the implying of specific podfics, even if one avoids the naming of names. But maybe someone else would be willing to start the discussion there.
