Leverage ficathons: Little Black Dress From Oklahoma is all Eliot, about which I'm not sure how I feel. I pretty much like Eliot with Alec or with Parkison (Harker?), but not so much on his own. And I hate Eliot/Nate. (Sophie/Eliot Nate makes me go o_0 Sophie/Nate makes me go :P.) There's also [livejournal.com profile] leveragexchange, which is much less confusing.

1 Samuel 13, New International Version start reading here to figure out some of what's going on on Kings. You might want to read backward from there, so you can understand why Samuel is totally bitter at Saul, and why that thing with the brother in law is kind of funny. Not as funny as Samuel saying, "Dudes, you do not want a king, because all kings do is raise taxes and have standing armies. It will suck, I am telling you. And when things go wrong, as they will, because you are a trifling people, God will say, 'Let your king handle it, you wanted a king so bad.'"

It appears (from the "This season, on Kings" montage) that David is going to sleep with the entire royal family, except the Queen.

I … do not disapprove of this, as the basis for a television show which I will watch every week.

The show is fairly, er, stylized. Those of you with sensitive ears for dialogue may wish to stay away. Those of us who disapprove of silly special effects may wish to stay away also. They're doing sort of a fine line on the question of God, where stuff happens that is somewhat difficult to explain without supernatural influence, but nothing like a helpful miracle, at least not tonight.

What I don't understand is spoiler )

It looks like a good time may be had by all. I approve of Eamonn Walker as Rev. Samuel, and, according to Wikipedia, there will be some other exciting actors participating: Miguel Ferrer and Macaulay Caulkin.

This week, I intend to read 1 and 2 Samuel. I had really intended to read before the premiere, so I would not be shocked, shocked! by things like David sleeping with the entire royal family. Except the Queen. Didn't get around to it. Now I will make the time.

P.S. Queen Rose is probably my favorite.

P.P.S. Jonathan, er, that is to say, Jack is canonically gay. :) But tragically closeted. D:

P.P.P.S Silas/Samuel: Are they Magneto/Professor X or Professor X/Magneto? You decide!
