One) International Porning Day for Podfic. Make podfic. Sexually explicit. As many languages as possible. (via [personal profile] rivkat) You always have permission to make fanworks of my fanwork, so if you want to podcast my podfic as written, you may. If you want to translate my fic to another language and podfic that, you may. If you want to write fanfic of my fic in another language, do that, too. I would love a link, but it's not required.

Some) Speaking of podfic of my fic: [livejournal.com profile] bessyboo performed a podfic of Get Next To You, my Fastlane story. Fastlane, man, good times. (*obligatory Fox hatred*)

Lots) Also, that [personal profile] charmax vid everyone was linking around and going on and on and on about how awesome it is? Space Girl actually is pretty awesome. Isn't that always the way?

Poll context:

the Melee (people being able to do remixes without signing up or volunteering for their story to be remixed.) was part of the [community profile] remixduello.

The reason for running [community profile] remixduello in the first place is to have a remix challenge with restraint, where the story you are to remix was picked for you, as an extra special remix challenge. (Also, to let you pick exactly which story got remixed, to say, "I want to see where someone takes that story.") The Melee got rid of both of those aspects of the challenge. I think a little bit of that could be restored if I reorganized it so that people could nominate stories as Melee prompts, but only one per fandom. Would that still be of interest to people?

This "one per fandom" idea sounds interesting. Let's hear some more about that.

I forgot what the Melee was from last year. What are you talking about?

[community profile] purimgifts is open for signups! 3 short stories about women, or Jews, or people oppressed by viziers, plus three graphics! An exchange! Due mid-March!

Because I am a loser, I forgot to tell you about [community profile] chromatic_podfic while the signups were open. However, you should still be able to tell people they can record your fic or offer to beta. And, you can listen and give feedback in February when posting starts.

[livejournal.com profile] helpbrazil2011 is open for bidding until January 31, 2011, midnight GMT.

Sady Doyle is proposing a #dearjohn twitter campaign to protest the Republican move to redefine rape. In addition to participating on Twitter, American residents should write their Congressional Representative.

two memes about awesome women! such heights is talking about a lady and posting a rec. jekesta is doing a full on meme where each day's post is about a specific sort of lady or ladies.

Personally, I don't actually really like new music. I mean, the last time I really tried to discover new bands or whatever, I set up my Pandora account. (I have discovered exactly one amazing band (Explosions in the Sky) and three amazing songs (The Wreckoning by BoomKat, Nikki, Don't Stop by Low Millions, and Stroker Ace by Lovage.)

However, if you like rock music more than I do, [personal profile] the_future_modernes and/or [community profile] rocknroll_n_blues_queens can help you out on that front.

Also, even though I'm not that into music, I love public radio, and I regularly listen to Sound Opinions, a talk show coming out of WBEZ (yes, also home to This American Life.) They did a show a couple of weeks ago about The Business of Hip Hop that I thought was worth listening to. I also enjoy their music news and album and genre dissections.

[personal profile] somnolentblue has some more on the LJ/Facebook/Twitter grrr.

[personal profile] dancesontrains points out that the newly for sale LJ userheads feature ethnic stereotyping but not actually ethnically colored userheads (they've got blue though!) and not enough lady shapes.

Marie Brennan's business essays. [personal profile] jimhines linked to her because she spoke about the business of publishing her first novel; I'm planning to read it over later.

The Circus of Brass and Bone After the collapse of civilization, the show goes on.... (A pay-what-you-can online serial story by Abra SW. All proceeds go to her mother's cancer treatment.) Post-apocalyptic circus serial, in text and podbook form. I haven't read or listened to any yet, may this weekend. Audiofiction is awesome for crocheting to.

why is it that we’re all so freaking concerned with how to handle a call out? It's a comment on a post about a discussion in social justice blogging about calling out possibly triggering the person being called out on whatever (I think.) I got linked to the comment, which leaves me thoughtful. Haven't really followed links about the wider conversation.

So, remember when I was trying to find a cheap book to round out my Amazon order a couple weeks back?

I ended up buying a cheap microphone instead, a labtec 341 mono.

I'm testing it today, and I'm getting terrible noise, which makes me cranky, since it's supposed to be a noise canceling microphone.

I get some crackle sounds when I'm not saying anything, but I'm getting a lot of crackle when I'm talking. (MP3 test)

Anybody have suggestions on what to do to make this better?

[personal profile] yvi has posted the Buy-a-bug fundraiser: Claiming post!

I will not be participating in [livejournal.com profile] vampirebigbang, but maybe you will.

I will be participating in [community profile] month_of_june, which is a ficathon for June of White Collar. Hopefully, you will, too!

I got my Remix Redux assignment. (Sadly, my immediate reaction was WTF was I thinking in picking this fandom, but I am in something of a funk lately, and perhaps all things fannish will not be hateful to me come the weekend.)

My Dreamwidth anniversary passed unremarked in February.

It is time to go put my clean underwear in the dryer. Today, I was down to wearing one of two thongs, as far as underwear goes. You guys, I have so much underwear (not as much as some people, but a lot.) It's really horrible when I run out and I hate it.

Also, my neck hurts.

Also, the booktape I have been listening to lately consistently mispronounces Siobhan. Which makes me want to die inside, every time.

Also, [personal profile] phi recorded podfic of A Pon Farr Tale. Yay! (I am still offering DW credits for reading fic by me or by [archiveofourown.org profile] ltlj.)

Mmmm, Dreamwidth

[personal profile] such_heights posted about so you wanna move to dreamwidth? and [personal profile] kiwikiwi posted These are a few of my Favorite Things about Dreamwidth features she likes.

[personal profile] yvi's bug completion for points bounty will be closing Monday. I, personally, put up fifty points for 1996: Display modified navigation bar on siteschemed entry pages, plus 90 points spread around other requests.

[I think it's going to take a little while for the real exchange rate of points to gratitude to settle out. I feel like I'm offering a lot at 50 points for one item (I mean, just looking at what people are offering on bounties, the relative value of fifty points is pretty high), but that's only US$5.]

Also, [community profile] random_fic_is_random is having a reverse auction for Dreamwidth points. I … feel sort of weird that the points aren't going to whoever fulfills the request, so I haven't put any requests out. I think I'd be requesting podfic for X points/min, for my stuff or [archiveofourown.org profile] ltlj's stuff (podficcer gets permission). The prices on the auction are higher than in the bug bounty, which, I suspect is in part because there's a thirty point minimum.

Eh, I suppose there's no harm offering such a thing on my journal, is there? Or rather, whatever legal liability there is accrues to me and the podficcer. Um, yeah, record podfic of my work, get Dreamwidth points from me at 3 points/min (as soon as the transfer to an individual works) for a max of, um, 500 points? Record [archivefourown.org profile] ltlj at 1 point/min, again, max of 500 points. (She writes longer than me; I'm offering less per minute so an entire story gets recorded before I run out of money. Also, if you record Hunting Parties, I'll be your best friend at no additional charge.)

Ladies' First, the challenge for stories about a woman's first time, will theoretically close tomorrow.

If no one else posts to it, I think I may move Bee Prepared to Ladies' Choice and delete the whole challenge.

If someone posts to it, maybe I'll just leave it open forever.

Thinky thinky thinky.

Also, [community profile] amplificathon 2010 has started up. As always, everyone has blanket permission to podfic any fanfiction by zvi.

And you have until tomorrow to register for Remix...Redux. (Which means you also have until tomorrow to finish [community profile] dark_agenda's pre-remix drabble challenge.)

Also also, [community profile] ladiesbigbang is still about to open for either signing up or just participating. It even accepts original work. D:

I am a greedy, greedy person, so when I saw her offer up, I again leapt at the chance to have dodificus read Closer. Grey's Anatomy, Erica/Callie. Femslash podfic, rare and precious and, if I say so myself, quite hot!

The Off Season Amazing HIMYM/SGA fusion, with drop-in Leverage. AWESOME!

[syndicated profile] monkeysee_feed: The Monkey See blog is basically NPR's answer to EW's Popwatch. They often feature a slightly longer form, and they have a morning round up pointing you to interesting notes around the web. I like it, and I've been particularly enjoying the last few days' American Idol coverage. (They also have plenty of Olympics coverage, for those of you enjoying the Games.)

[community profile] white_collar: Comprehensive weekly round up of White Collar fanworks which covers not only Dreamwidth and AO3, but also Fanfiction.net and some LiveJournal comms. This comm would also welcome discussion, if people were having it. Go talk about the show there. (Perhaps I should post a June/Neal manifesto "Whatever Happened to Class"?)

[community profile] podficmeta: Thinky thoughts about podfic. We talk about what people have done while reading/performing fanfiction stories, what we wish they would do, and what we wish they'd stop doing. (Coincidentally, this is the comm that makes clear to me why scheduled posting would be awesome. I try to post to this comm every three or four days, but sometimes I get distracted and forget. Other times, I think of three or four questions to raise, but I want to hold onto ideas for future discussions.)

[syndicated profile] cakewrecks_feed: The act of paying someone to create a beautiful cake will not necessarily result in the receipt of a beautiful cake, and Cakewrecks lovingly details all the many, many ways the baker can screw it up. However, on Sundays, as a palate cleanser, they show a collection of amazing (in a good way!) cakes, either professional or amateur. It's epicaric humor, but without the harsh (embarrassment squick inducing) bite that so many epicaric humor sites have.
