Unflushable

zvi: Toccara looking fine and sexy (Beautiful)
I watch Drop Dead Diva, and I enjoy it immensely. It's light hearted, it's pretty and the characters are just fashionable enough to be more interesting for it, the lead character is a cutie pie who is fat, and most of the important relationships on the show are between women.

There's a lot to like.

I don't like the relationship between Jane and Grayson, because it doesn't work. )

At this point, the relationship could only be saved by Ye Olde Fanfiction Standbys like Trapped in a Cave or Huddling for Warmth or Sex Pollen.

What I wish they could do instead is have Jane take this opportunity to take a step back from Grayson and more reallistically assess some of his flaws, and get to the point where they're really friends.

I also want Jane to be a big old dyke who is sleeping with Judge Madeline (played by Rosie O'Donnell), because they are supercute when they are huddled together giggling about how they're going to take over the world. Sadly, it seems as if Madeline, having been successfully paired off, is never to be heard from again. The other storyline that would be very awesome to me is if one of the models that Jane knew from her Deb days came in and pursued and Jane, and Jane were very flustered and complimented, and at first she would think she wasn't interested, because she'd never tried that before, but then she wouldn't be able to stop thinking about it, and Stacy would reveal that she secretly had fucked her way through her high school's soccer and lacrosse team and highly recommended lesbian sex. And Jane would try it and it would be good.

Working in reverse chronological order:

Dreamwidth, icerocket, lazyweb )

Lazywebbing*, for those that don't know, is the practice of asking the internet at large for something: information you can't dig up, a program too advanced for your ability to create, glitter pens to get you out of the hospital, you get the picture. Lazyweb.org actually streamed lazyweb blog posts from 2002-2006, but then it got spammed to death. There is a replacement site, hoosgot. It used to be that technorati (which is where hoosgot gets its questions from) picked up pings to weblogs.com (which is the blog pinging tool which Dreamwidth and LJ/lj-clones support), but I couldn't confirm that this is still the case.

*Yes, on LJ, some of us call it Flist Wan Kenobi.

Geekgasm dream. So, I was outside of some warehouse store like unto a Costco, and there was the demonstration of netbook about the thinness of a MacAir, but running Gentoo. Some random geekkid and I were salivating at it because it only cost $300. Just as the salesman was pulling up the manufactorer's website to show me that, yes, it would run Ubuntu, no problem, my alarm went off. I was weirdly annoyed because we were just about to get to the part where I asked what kind of memory it had, and now I will never know.

Socializing

DC Metro Open Beta )

(Oh, speaking of chocolate, when I went to [personal profile] synecdochic's Stitch & Bitch on Sunday, the ice cream I was talking about is CHOCTAL. Trader Joe's sells a sampler of the four chocolate flavors, Whole Foods sells pints of individual flavors. I would recommend getting the sampler and figuring out which chocolate is your favorite, and which chocolate is your Best Beloved's favorite. Hopefully, your rankings will be diametrically opposed, and there will be no ice cream theft!)

Other weekend stuff )

It was a pretty good weekend, and next weekend there will be Star Trek. I have but one request JJ Abrams & Co. Please to be exposing the sweet, sweet (for values of sweet which mean cranky romcom banter and pigtail-pulling) love of Spock and McCoy. Thank you.

Pro authors will pwn copyright infringer by…writing fanfic? This is Peter David's stupid idea, but I'm linking to [livejournal.com profile] kradical's description of it, because Peter David is a dick. Does anyone even understand why this is LOLzy, let alone pwnage?

Another one from lgbtfest: Dean comes back from the dead, and he's whole. 100% gen

Found a recipe for Fries Quatro Queso Dos Fritos as described in the Psych episode Truer Lies. I will have to try these as soon as I have the house to myself for a bit.

I may be watching too many crime procedurals: in the L&O:CI premiere, I knew what the issue at home was the first time the girl interacted with her family. One of the nice things about No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency is that I do not immediately know who is doing what skanky or hateful or repulsive thing just from having watched years of crime procedurals. There are still surprises left.

Speaking of, Mma Ramotswe and Mma Makutsi and the end of The Boy with the African Heart? Yeeeeeees. Who is writing No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency fic? Gen, het, femslash, it's all good. They love each other so much so soon, they sort of make me all swoony. At the least, can somebody point me toward some icons?

Also making zvi swoon: Willow made an anti-anti-dwo (dreamwidth.org, get it? I just can't get behind dwj, y'all) rant and called me her boo. I like to be called pet names and have my hair petted and be adored a little bit, I admit it. It's nice when it happens for reasons that have nothing to do with me crawling in someone's lap and making big eyes.

Some cool comms what I have joined lately.

So, in my (much restrained) icerocket searches on dwo, I ran across someone who (I presume) is genderqueer, who felt that the dwo diversity statement does not include transfolk. The first phrase in it saying who they are diverse for is "We welcome people of any gender" and I don't get why that doesn't count. So, if you know, flistwankenobi, please to be telling me. (To be clear: I am not saying, "Leap to the defense of DWO and proclaim that Denise is pro-trans and some of my best friends are not cisgendered!!!!" la la la failcakes. The phrase has clearly failed to communicate what I thought it did communicate, and I wish to learn why it failed and how the communication can actually occur.)

Went to see [livejournal.com profile] ext_59120 today, dealing with a last bit of business from the apartment of lies. Then we went to see her adorable hobbit hole of a new place, and it is pretty sweet.

Then, we went to the Cheesecake Factory, where, once again, I failed to have a small enough lunch to accommodate dessert. So I bought a ridiculously huge piece of cake to transport back to DC with me.

In any case, Willow is good, the cat exists but has forgotten me, and I still like Peach Bellinis a lot.
